Taiwan Affairs Office responded to Li Mingzhe’s case: relevant parties in mainland China handle the case according to law

People’s Daily Online, Beijing, April 12 (Liu Jieyan, Zhang Ruiqi) Taiwan Affairs Office held a regular press conference today to respond again to Li Mingzhe’s suspected case of engaging in activities endangering national security. Spokesman An Fengshan reiterated that the case was because Li Mingzhe was suspected of engaging in activities endangering national security and was investigated by relevant departments according to law. The relevant parties in mainland China are handling cases according to law and will safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the parties in accordance with the law. If deliberately creating trouble and intent to interfere with handling the case according to law, it will only further complicate the problem and damage the rights and interests of the parties.

Anfengshan pointed out that since May 20 last year, the mechanism of cross-Strait communication and negotiation has been suspended, and the reasons and responsibilities are clear to everyone. Under such a special circumstance, in order to take care of the concerns of Li Mingzhe’s family members, based on humanitarian considerations, the ARATS commissioned relevant groups in Taiwan, namely the cross-Strait exchange service center, to inform Li Mingzhe’s wife of the relevant situation, at the same time, he also handed over Li Mingzhe’s personal letters to his parents and wife. Some groups and personages with ulterior motives in Taiwan took the opportunity to attack the mainland, create troubles and interfere with the relevant departments of the mainland to handle cases according to law. Their aim will not succeed.

The relevant parties in Taiwan deliberately led the case to cross-Strait relations, maliciously attacked the mainland and pushed the flames, which only made the current already severe cross-Strait relations worse.

Regarding the issue of cross-Strait joint crackdown on crime, anfengshan said that the cross-Strait joint crackdown on crime and mutual legal assistance agreement have played a positive role for many years, which is obvious to all.
